The girls of Brighton and Hove roared their approval about the new party event at the Lunar Bar, North Road, on Saturday February 10. A member of the newly-formed HEARMEROAR consortium – a collective of dykes who live and party in this area - said, "Disillusionment with the scene here led us to createthe vision of a series of spontaneous, energetic events for lesbians, beginning with Hot Lips. Entry to the party was free, and we aimed to encourage a strong focus on dykes interacting and having a funky, glam night, for example by bursting over 100 balloons filled with glitter and the odd pair of numbered lips – lucky women managed to meet matching lip numbers, whilst others spent the evening searching for numbers 5 and 18! It was a great event and we thank everyone for their unconditional support, with a special mention for DJ Debs and photoperson Dee. A continuous showing of the special Hot Lips screen-kissing video, made by HEARMEROAR and edited at GLAM, featured local dyke starlets from Candy Bar and the Marlborough. Comments from the girls reflected local delight at HEARMEROAR’s new venture – "Superb presentation, from flyers to website and interior of the Lunar Bar"…. "Atmosphere is warm and friendly with a buzz in the air"…. "Who can resist that many pairs of lips???!" Oli Rowntree, manager of the Lunar Bar, added, "It was a wicked night - I still have glitter in my hair. The decorations and organisation were excellent.…when’s the next one? |
